Strawberry Panic
Isn’t it sad Tamao-chan? ;__; You were so close to getting everything you wanted but then that bitch Shizuma just had to ruin your day and steal your potential yuri lover. And to make things worse, she did it in front of the entire student body from the 3 schools. Maybe you and yaya-chan should get together and console each others pain of unrequited love.
I decided to finish watching the second half of Strawberry Panic after ragequitting for the night due to frustrations with working on the colored pages of chapter 7. I watched the first half a couple months ago and for the most part thought it was fairly decent, nothing special, not craptacular. Just like the first half, the second half had it’s ups and downs but for the most part I was entertained. Definitely no subtle hints at yuri relationships here.
At first, I didn’t mind Shizuma trying to seduce Nagisa into becoming her yuri slave but by the time I was a few episode in the second half, it got boring (I did like the pool scene). The Shizuma/Kaori backstory was interesting but they took forever and an episode to reveal it. When Shizuma finally came to terms with her feelings for Nagisa, I had already lost interest in their pairing and raged at how she stole Nagisa from Tamao. That said, I did like Shizuma’s black dress.
I didn’t care about the Yaya/Hikari/Amane love triangle because to be honest, I just didn’t find them interesting. Hikari and Yaya’s character designs were ok but their personalities just didn’t appeal to me. Amane just seemed bland and her rivalry with Kaname didn’t help improve things at all.
Ignoring the ending, I support the NagisaXTamao pairing but if I had it my way, it’d be TamaoXChikaru.
Ah Chikaru… I really liked her character. It’s a shame she wasn’t used to her full potential. She has the sympathetic big sister gig going on despite being a bit odd with her cosplay hobby and her tendancy to create random clubs. She did manage to shine for a bit during the school festival arc when she played the character Carmen. Sadly Kaname and Momomi from Spica ruined it and Nagisa had to step in as a replacement. Nagisa looked awkward in Carmen’s outfit while Chikaru looked natural. Now that I think about it, why didn’t they have understudies? Surely the had more than enough people to fill the role.
If Chikaru hand not been part of the graduating class, I would have definitely picked her to be the next Etoile. Amane and Hikari combo are pretty much meh to me.
Now if you will excuse me, I’m off to hunt down some NagisaXTamao or TamaoXChikaru doujins and the 2nd OP while I’m at it.
