Puncolle voice actresses’ legendary punk songs collection
So I happened to read both Eej and Koda‘s blog post about this a few days ago and thought I’d check it out just for the lulz. More WTFs than lulz were had unfortunately. I tried my best to keep an open mind while listening but my expectations got in the way. Also, it doesn’t help that I’m listening to these at 3 in the morning and lacking a couple of hours of sleep.
There are six voice actresses singing in this album: Momoi Haruko, Ikezawa Haruna, Shimizu Kaori, Kadowaki Mai, Goto Yuko and Tanaka Rie. I only recognized Mai, Yuko and Rie immediately while the others I had to look up.
Content:
Sex and Violence sung by Momoi Haruko, original by The Exploited
-WTF this is some weird ass sugary sweet song gone horribly wrong.
Basket Case sung Ikezawa Haruna, original by Green Day
-Again WTF and that’s the only thing I can say for this.
White Riot sung by Shimizu Kaori, original by The Clash
-Still sugary but felt a bit more punk-ish (or as close as some of these songs will get).
Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) sung by Kadowaki Mai, original by The Offspring
-XD WTF AM I LISTENING TO?! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to any of my Offspring CD without this song entering in my head.
Anarchy in The U.K. sung by Tanaka Rie, original by Sex Pistols
-Not bad at all… In fact I’d say this is one of the best songs in the collection. And yes, I can definitely imagine Lacus Clyne singing this.
London’s Burning sung Goto Yuko, original by The Clash
-Meh, don’t care much for the original version, don’t care much for this. Way too up beat.
Call Me sung by Momoi Haruko, original by Blondie
-This one was decent, sounded close to the original as far as I remember. It helps that the original singer was female too.
God Save The Queen sung by Ikezawa Haruna, original by Sex Pistols
-You know… I really should keep my expectations on these songs low.
Blitzkrieg Bop sung by Shimizu kaori, original by Ramones
-“…” My brain is stuck trying to process the previous song. I think I killed off a couple of brain cells.
Search and Destroy sung by Kadowaki Mai, original by Iggy Pop and the Stooges
-“Now where did I put that razor blade…”
Ruby Soho sung by Tanaka Rie, original by Rancid
-Meh, never heard to original so I can’t say much for this. The singing wasn’t bad compared to some of the other tracks. For some reason I kept hearing her say “lube me, lube me so hard” and now I can’t unhear it.
Smells Like Teen Spirit sung by Goto Yuko, original by Nirvana
-I’m dying over here. Someone please put a bullet in my head before I go insane and hurt people around me.
Final thoughts:
Perfect way to torture someone you don’t like/10, will not listen to 90% of them again. There were a few diamonds in that dung heap as well as a couple kernels of corn and by that I mean you can tell what it is but it’s still covered in shit.
I wonder what it would sound like if someone got Tanaka Rie to sing “Blister In The Sun” by the Violent Femmes…
Anyway have some Lacus (possible nws)

Edit: So after looking up the names, here are the anime characters I can imagine singing based on the roles their VAs played.
Momoi Haruko – Anise Tatlin (Tales of the Abyss)
Ikezawa Haruna – Momoka Nishizawa (Sgt. Frog)
Shimizu Kaori -Hiyori Tamura (Lucky Star), I could have said Signum from Nanoha but I just can’t imagine her singing like that.
Kadowaki Mai – Sanya V. Litvyak (Strike Witches)
Tanaka Rie – Lacus Clyne (Gundam Seed/Destiny), way too many roles to pick from but Lacus has more lulz to it
Goto Yuko – Mikuru Asahina (Haruhi), Anya Alstreim from Code Geass R2 works too
