[W] Summer 2011: Week 1
Or “Dammit I only wanted to pick up a few shows”
In an effort to get back to blogging, RPG and I decided to do weekly posts rather than individual posts since I have nothing to show when you look at my track record. I might as well get started before I get distracted with something else.

Out of all the shows I picked up this season, this was the only show that I had planned to pick up. I’ve never played the game but that didn’t stop me from picking out favorite characters long before the anime announcement.
I liked how the first episode was presented though I’m sure they won’t keep it that way for the next 24 episodes. I’m guessing at least 12 episodes will be dedicated to each individual girl while the other 12 will go to the main story. I’m not sure if it follow a specific girl’s route or not. Either way I look forward to watching more of this.
Mawaru Penguindrum
First episode managed to catch my attention but I can’t help but wonder where this show is heading. The show is fabulous enough that it might just be the next Star Driver though I do hope romantic relationships in this one aren’t as shitty (Read: Wako stop being a slut and just pick a guy already). At least I think it won’t be an incestuous love triangle since a girl from another school appeared to take interest in Shoma, one of the main protagonists. I liked this enough that I’ll give this show 5 episodes.
Kamisama no Memochou
It’s a NEET detective story and it shows a lot of promise this season despite the fact that a lot of people have been grumbling about J.C. Staff’s level of quality of handling shows lately, Yumekui Merry & Hidan no Aria to name a few. It’s only 13 episodes but I plan to stick with this one to the end.
Mayo Chiki
Uh…. I guess this is a boy, with what I could say is an acute case of gynophobia, falls in love with a girl posing as a male butler. There’s also powerful little sister, a girl with cat ears, and a sadistic ojou-sama. I’m not too crazy about this one so I’ll give it the 3 episode test.
Usagi Drop
OH GOD. TOO DAMN CUTE!
Yeah… this is a slice-of-life show about a 30 year old guy raising his 6 year old (I think) aunt. There’s not a whole lot to say about the first episode but this one I’ll also stick with until the end.
Ro Kyu Bu!
Oh hey another show with Kana Hanazawa in it. She’s been getting a lot of lead roles this year. I also caught a few more few more familiar voices such as Yuka Iguchi (Index) and Shizuka Itoh (Hinagiku).
I was a bit hesitant to give this one a try because the girls are in elementary school while the main protagonist is in high school. It gave off a strong Kodomo no Jikan vibe that I’m not very willing to touch. After putting it off for two weeks, I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised.
It’s a basketball themed show with cute girls doing cute things and some comedy thrown in. While the first episode had a fair amount of fanservice, the second toned it down. I’m willing to give this at least a 5 episode test but chances are I’ll watch this completely.
NO. 6
I’m quite wary of this show since the bromolust was strong for a first episode. That aside it seems to have a good story going for it. I hope it doesn’t turn into the next Fractale because that was a really disappointing show. I’ll cautiously give this 3 episodes.
