Wisedog’s top 10 anime openings
Going through all of the anime songs I had made me want to re-watch some of the old shows and it made me realize that I need to update Yumi Silvermoto (my mp3 player) with more songs that I have not gotten around to adding.
While I am not following a particular theme, I decided to avoid having overlaps with RPG and Otaku’s picks as well as those that were picked by IGN. Pardon the foreign subs on some of these videos as it was quite hard to track some of these that had the actual animation. Thanks copyright censorship!
10. Mondaiji tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? – Black and White
The inclusion of this one is solely a gut decision as I like both the animation and music.
09. Haibane Renmei – Free Bird
It’s nice, simple, and quite calming.
08. Guilty Crown – The Everlasting Guilty Crown
Despite being a train wreck of a show, this is one of my favorite openings from Winter 2012. Music was one of the few things this show had that kept me watching.
07. The World God Only Knows – God Only Knows ~ Dai San Maku
I don’t know if I mentioned this somewhere on my other anime posts that latter half of this opening’s animation style strongly reminded me of Eden of the East’s Falling Down.
06. Tsubasa Chronicle: Tokyo Revelations – Synchronicity
Not much to see here in terms of animation unless magic circles are your king of thing but that said, I can easily visualize Sakura singing this song.
05. Ef: a Tale of Memories – Euphoric field
First things first, this opening was played at the end of the first episode for this video. I liked the artistic style for the animation and up beat tempo pulled me in.
04. Last Exile – Cloud Age Symphony
Those bagpipes… I’ve lost count to the number of times I’ve woke up to the sound of those bagpipes playing in my head.
03. Jormungand – Undershaft
Though a bit spoilerish in the animation, I find it to be a good ‘pump me up’ song.
02. Psycho Pass – Out of Control
CAUSE I FEEEEEEEL…. *Ahem* Just like the GitS: SAC 2nd GIG – Rise opening in RPG’s post this one gives a better sense of the protagonists (and antagonist) compared to the first opening.
01. Rinne no Lagrange – Try Unite
This opening won me in both the music and visual department and it got me hooked to the show. Still waiting on Underwater to finish subbing the second season. *Shakes angry fist at Daiz*
