Kasugano Sora
It has been a long time since I last posted about an anime figure. I seem to be in the mood for clearing out some of my backlogged images that have been in my queue for the past 2 or more years. Since these images were taken such a long time ago, I choose to give these images the bare minimum (based on my standards) of touch up. Things like dust, iso grain, and the occasional eyelash will be left in these images. Since I am writing this based on what I remember, I may get some details wrong and apologize in advance.
To kick off the series of backlog figure posts, I will start with Kasugano Sora from Yosuga no Sora. She is the twin sister (fraternal) of the series’ protagonist, Kasugano Haruka. Sora appears to be a frail and introverted girl yet underneath that shy exterior is someone who is manipulative and can hold a grudge for years. Her loneliness due to the lack of social graces and the death of her parents made her very dependent on her brother Haruka.
I feel the goal of this figure is to present the viewer with the shy side of Sora and to illicit a protective emotion. MegaHouse did so well in selling that aspect that I did not pick up on the subtle seductiveness they were trying to convey until I reviewed the images I took years after the fact. On the surface, Sora’s body language appears to be normal for a shy person but as I studied the figure a bit more, I started to see the visual cues that MegaHouse had planted.
I think the most obvious out of the subtle cues is her open body language. When I think of a shy person, I immediately think of a person displaying closed body signals that include shoulders hunched down, arms kept closer or tighter to the body, and feet not too far apart. With this Sora figure, her body has a more inviting stance with arms not tightly guarding her chest and putting more of her body weight to one side, resulting with her left hip higher than her right. It’s a subtle but seductive pose.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, on with the images!

Out of the tiny few issues I have with figure, this is my biggest complaint: The paint job on her lips appear to be half-assed. With the towel the issue can be ignored. But without the towel, the viewer’s eyes tend to focus on it due to a sense of something being off.

Front view without the towel. Small details like the nail polish on her nails are a plus on my book.

Her toenails are painted too. The sculpting on the toes leave a bit to be desired. As far as I know, most figure manufacturers do not spend much time worrying about the toes unless it is a key focus of the figure. For this Sora figure, toe sculpting seems to be an afterthought.

The detailing on Sora’s backside view surprised me the most. The shading on her shoulder blades and the back of her knees (knee pits?) makes this figure a treat on the eyes for anyone with an interest on anatomy and physiology.

Giving some love to Sora’s bikini bottom. The paint job on the ribbon and frills are passable. I don’t know if manufacturers have improved since then. There seems to be a chip just above the middle of the bikini bottom, not sure when it occurred.
It seems I was diligent enough to take images of the bunny but I seem to have forgotten about the towel.
And that’s about it for this figure. Overall, I’m quite pleased with it despite some of the imperfections it has.
