[W] Winter 2014: What I’m watching
I haven’t done one of these in a long time. This winter season seems to be just as busy as any regular spring season. So many shows to watch, so little time.
Watching:
Space Dandy
Who could resist a holocard like that?
Animated by BONES, directed by the guy who did Cowboy Bebop, with the writer who did Samurai Champloo, good music, and lots of hype from /a/? SIGN ME UP!
Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta
The cinematography in this show is subtle yet amazing.
I’ve done 2 quick posts on this show already and while the main attraction for me is the aerial battles (only seen in episode 1 for now), the character interaction have my interest. That said, I’m bracing myself for SUFFERING to kick in as foreshadowed several times in both the OP and through out the espisodes.
Sekai Seifuku ~ Bouryaku no Zvezda
Hard to argue with a 6 year old kid who’s accusing you of being a shameless sexual offender.
Two episodes in and I’m still wrapping my head around this surprisingly entertaining show.
Witchcraft Works
Do you have enough swo-… oh ok maybe you do.
I was originally planning on passing this up until RPG told me to check it out. I’m quite amused at the Tower Witches getting their asses handed to them by Kagari but I still haven’t warmed up to Kagari and Honoka’s dynamic. My understanding is that it will get better so I look forward to watching more episodes.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren
You know you’re in for a world of pain when Touka gets pissed off enough that a deathly aura surrounds her.
First season was good but felt like it warped nicely and didn’t need a second one. Yet here we are with season 2. From what I’ve seen out of the 1st episode, things are just as zany as they were in season 1. I’m quite interested to see where KyoAni will take this series.

I loved the first season and the three episodes have not only lived up to it but also taken the jokes further. Definitely a must watch for me.

Another series that I would have passed up had I not watched the first episode while visiting RPG. I’m entertained with the characters and the comedy but this one is in trouble of falling into my backlog hell if I get too busy with school.

I’ve had the manga series on my check out list but have not started it. I have seen episode 1 and think it has a potential to be one of the shows I’ll stick with for the rest of the season.
Wizard Barristers – Benmashi Cecil
NOOO! You’re doing it wrong! Use mayo not whipped cream!
I’ll be honest, I’m only watching this because of the nostalgic character design of Yasuomi Umetsu. If it seems familiar, maybe the titles Kite, Kite Liberator, Mezzo DSA, and Mezzo Forte might ring a bell. Thankfully the entire series will not take place in the courtroom as we get some fight scenes outside.

I gave it the 3 episode test and I still could not find anything interesting to keep me watching. Terrible writing, terrible character design, terrible use of cliche… etc. If I remember correctly I read that even the author for this series thought it was a bad idea to animate it.
