Twin Angel OVA
Twin Angel OVA
This 2 episode OVA has been out for quite some time but I recently decided to check it out after discovering that Mamiko Noto and Yukari Tamura were the voice actors for the two heroines.
Note: I started typing this up on March 18 but I got busy with other things and didn’t have time to finish it until last night.
-Episode 1-
It starts off with this dude in a suit and sunglasses (wearing it at night just to be cool) at some harbor typing in whatever in his sleek (not) Black Auction remote.
So this dude is having some other group of dudes in suits and sunglasses load up a cargo container with the words “Black Auction” on it on to the cargo ship. As for what’s in the container, who knows.
He says something about finally being able to leave the country when he’s interupted by some chick claiming that he and the organization he’s associated with, Black Auction, are a bunch of theives and that she’s going to take back whatever the thing is that’s in the container. This chick is Red Angel by the way.
Of course this dude has had some minor henchman competency training since he orders his fellow henchmen to ignore Red Angel and finish loading up the cargo. So what’s this henchman’s best weapon of choice to deal with a little girl? A gun? Nope. Poorly programed mecha.
Mecha is no competition against a little girl who packs a mean tornado kick.
If one is not careful, they’d get their foot stuck in mecha.
Taking advantage of the situation, dude bring in more mecha fodder and this time they’re packing machine guns. (Cool toys bro, Schniezel would be proud)
Red is in a pinch. What is she going to do? Well, the show is called Twin Angel for a reason so bring in Busty loli Blue Angel.
Time for self introductions.
The best way to get out of this situation for any villain is to send out more mecha fodder and make a fashionable exit.
Obviously those things won’t last long. Blue turns them into scrap metal while Red goes off to chase the dude and retrieve whatever is in the container. (Oh right, they did have an objective and not just pointless hassling of low level henchmen). The henchmen finally wise up (just a tad bit) by finally using their guns.
Of course this inevitably leads to the container falling. What’s in the container? Another smaller container.
If you stand around and stare at the box, you’ll get a boot to the face. (He probably doesn’t mind because he’s rewarded with some loli pantsu upskirt action)
So if mecha fodder and low level henchmen can’t deal with two little girls, why not bring out a larger version of mecha fodder. It’s got dual machine guns, target tracking, rocket launcher, and it’s even arrow proof (Not guaranteed to stop all arrows).
Running around with a large mech shooting at you with machine guns is bound to destroy something, in this case the mysterious smaller container. What’s inside it? A crap ton of packaging peanuts and a briefcase (WTF).
During the confusion, Blue decides to take advantage and shoots 3 arrows that penetrate the mech’s armor. (Where does she hide all those arrows?) The mech is a goner.
With the briefcase in their possession, the girls find themselve surrounded by henchmen with guns. Time to bring in 3rd party rescue dude, Misty Knight (Tuxedo mask anyone?). Just remeber folks, rose stems > machine guns.
Since the henchmen’s weapons are disabled, the Angels decide to wrap it up. (After all, they have a curfew to follow)
Turns out what they had to retrieve as a book in the briefcase. Oh right… Red’s name is Haruka and Blue’s name is Aoi.
Next day at school….
The book is finally in its rightful place… wait, why use a real book on a stone sculpture?
Lots of rambling in the next few scenes but apparently the statue has a twin that’s located in a sister school in Italy. It’s being shipped over for display in the school’s 100th Cherry Festival.
Since it’s a school festival, everyone is busy getting ready. It just so happens that Haruka and Aoi’s class (they’re in the same class) is doing a live show of Twin Angels.
The script calls for the angels retreating after the villain threatens them with a “super pistol” but Haruka thinks the Angels are courageous and will never run away from any opponent even if their lives are in danger.
After all that talking, Misty Knight the student council president (He has a name but it’s only mentioned once in this series so I won’t bother with it) applauds and agrees with Haruka. Also, he’s a pervert.
Later that night, this gentlemanly chap decides to pay a visit to the statue.
Next day, preparations are still going on. The girls just finished trying on their costumes and Haruka asks Aoi how the girl was able to get the costume right. Photos on the internet is the answer.
Someone decided to play a prank replaced the book the Angels retrieve with something else…. (I lol’d) So, the school’s headmaster summons the girls to her office.
The book is safe and with the headmaster but a note was found in it from the Baron of the Fourth Dimension. (That’s quite a name he’s got there) It says that he’ll be stealing both statues before the festival begins. They consider stopping the exhibition but in the end they decide to have the Twin Angels guard it.
Later that night, Aoi contemplates about running away if they ever face an opponent that they can’t beat. Haruka says everything will be fine because she’ll be there to protect Aoi.
The twin statue has arrived and Aoi notices something out of place with the Headmaster’s behavior. A lot people are in the cathedral (More like a chapel imo) viewing the statues when sleeping gas starts seeping out of the book. By the time anyone realizes it, it’s too late.
The headmaster gets up and is about to approach the statue when Aoi and Haruka barge in. Aoi reveals that she knows they’re facing an imposter because the real headmaster uses both hands to lift her glasses while the imposter has been using one. The imposter gives up his disguise and reveals that he is the Baron.
Harkua starts things off with Angel Tornado move but his able to stop her with his index finger. He starts spouting some stuff about decieving people and magic tricks. The baron is able to dodge all of thier attacks and even sneak up on Haruka. He claims that taking everything from the Twin Angels is his real mission, not taking the statues. (Does that include their virginity? One would think so judging by Haruka’s face)
The girls find themselves in another pinch and once again, Misty Knight shows up. He tells the girls to rescue the real headmaster while he deals with the baron. The baron is a very busy man, what with a pair of lolis to torment and all so he uses unlimited butler works to deal with Misty Knight.
The baron starts getting into the girl’s heads and Haruka starts freaking out. He throws a cloth spear at Haruka but Aoi gets in front of it and takes the hit causing her revert back to a normal school girl. Taking advantage of the situation, the baron destroys Aoi’s henshin device.
With what little energy Aoi has left, she tells Haruka run away and Haruka does so (Where’s your courage now?) While running away, Haruka has flash backs of all the things she said about not running away and being there to protect Aoi. The baron easily catches up to her and destroys her henshin device. He tells her he’s not going to kill her because he has accomplished his mission of taking away everything from her.
-End of Episode 1-
Still with me? Good. Episode 2 will go a lot faster since it’s all about fight scenes and less talking. Now let’s get it out of the way.
-Episode 2-
So… Aoi is currently in the hospital unconscious but recovering, everyone who had been in the chapel (including the real headmaster) when the attack happened were found in a school building safe and sound, however the two angel statues were stolen and Haruka has not returned.
-cue in opening song-
The baron is still by the statues that he stole and sunglasses dude from episode one shows up to praise him. Sunglasses dude says something about magic that pisses off baron so the baron goes off into this monologue about magic and tricks and being superior (tl;dr). Basically, he tells sunglasses dude that he’ll be taking care of transporting the statues since sunglasses dude is incompetent.
The class discovers that the stage they worked hard on building is trashed and student council president picks up Aoi’s destroyed henshin device but all these scenes are unimportant so I’m skipping them. As for Haruka, she’s still moping and wandering around town in the rain.
Eventually she ends up back at the school and back where the baron defeated her. She’s still having flashbacks of how she claimed that the twin angels would never run away and this causes her to break down and pass out on the ground.
When she finally wakes up, she discovers that someone left a jacket over her and creepy stalker Misty Knight appears before her on the ruined stage.
Once again, it’s full of tl;dr about becoming stronger, moving forward, and not giving up. She finally gains some courage to move on when Misty Knight shows her that her class has arrived to repair the stage. Of course she’s a pampered hero and all, she doesn’t have to help out and her butler shows up to take her home.
Haruka goes to the hospital to see how Aoi is doing. Aoi wakes up and Haruka has a sob scene about not being able to protect Aoi. Aoi spouts off something about seeing Haruka in her time of weakness and finding the courage to protect her as well as finally understanding why they work as a pair.
These two used are former twin angels. They ramble about one of them being similar to Haruka in their youthful days but neither one of them wants that pinned on them. Haruka asks her butler to find the Baron even though she knows her henshin device is destroyed.
At the airport, the statues are being loaded into Black Auctions’s private airplane (obvious much?). The Baron is chilling at his seat (I assume it’s first class) and spouts off something about foolish enemies from a foolish country and foolish job. Whatever.
Just as the Airplane gets ready to take off, Haruka and her bulter come charging in and head straight for the airplane. Security must have been busy playing with themselves or something cause they’re able to get their car on the runway. The pilots alert the Baron about the situation but he tells them to keep going. So the car and the plane play a game of chicken while the people at the air traffic control are only realizing now that there’s a car on the runway.
Flash back time! One of the former angels is telling Haruka that the henshin device does not contain all of the power of the twin angel and that most of it is in the the angel herself. It comes from the power of courage .
With the airplane bearing down on them, Haruka gathers up her courage, jumps of the car, transforms (no naked loli scenes for you), and disables the plane with her signature Angel Tornado attack. Haruka, I think the FBI wants to have a word with you.
The Baron is not phased by her come back but he is pissed cause she wrecked his trip out of the “foolish country”. They trade a few words and get down to business of fighting. During their fight, the Baron unleashes his unlimited butler works on her. Before the butlers can reach her, a storm of roses destroys them. Yep you guessed it right, Misty Knight is back and he takes on the butlers while letting Haruka do all the hard work.
You’d think by now the police and firefighters would be on the scene but nooooo, this is anime and they can take all the time the want and everything will be a-ok at the end of the day. With all the destruction they’re doing on the runway shouldn’t some law enforcement agency have taken notice by now?
Then sun is now setting and they’re still at it despite being tired. The Baron can’t figure out what changed in Haruka that gave her the confidence to fight him so she tells that though she’s the only one here, she’s fighting along with Aoi. The Baron decides to test this out by doing his cloth spear trick again.
The Baron throws the spear at Haruka and someone yells at her to duck. An arrow comes in from behind Haruka and destroys the cloth spear grazes the Baron’s cheek. Yep that’s right, boobs er.. Aoi is back.
Seeing that he’s at a disadvantage, the Baron sends both girls into a reality marble and stats doing his mind games on them again only this time it’s not effective cause the can see through his tricks and they fight back.
Out of parlor tricks to use, the Baron transforms into his real self, into a missile (wtf).
Together, Haruka and Aoi fire their signature attack moves and launch the Baron onto a light post. He is impressed with them and vanishes from the scene claiming they will meet again. The henchmen on the plane decide to give up now that the Baron has been defeated (are you telling me they just sat in there while the airplane was burning and people were fighting outside?! *facepalm*) and they get forced into unloading the statues but the one-eyed butler.
The angels rest on the grass while the pervert Misty knight watches over them on top of the airplane
Next day, the school festival starts and the statues are back at the school. The class play is well received. All is well, happy ending, blah blah blah The END.
