Sayonara nano-desu

No, I’m not leaving. This post is about how my iPod nano died a horrible death (IMO) last night.

Just as I was settling in for bed last night I remembered that I still had laundry to do (you know you’ve put off doing laundry for too long if you run out of both clean underwear and socks). I forced myself out of bed and grudgingly did my laundry. I made sure to check each and every single pocket that my clothes hands just to make sure I didn’t pocket important things

Fast forward to early 2 am, I’m falling asleep even as I fold my clothes and I can hear the dryer making a loud clanging noise. I dismiss it as my work jacket’s large zippers just making noise when my mom knocks on my door to show me the actual source. Unfortunately, it was my iPod Nano. I was sure I had checked every single pocket on my work jacket, since that’s where I last had my iPod, but somehow it managed to get caught in it and went through not only the washer but the dryer as well.

Dead screen

As you can see, the screen is pretty much wasted and it no longer turns on. Guess I’ll now have to rely on my PSP as my main portable music player. I know there were a bunch of songs from the previous owner, Alconqor, that I did not or could not copy to my computer because of Apple’s file sharing security code (REALLY LAME!).

Edit: The screen no longer looks like the above picture but it still does not turn on. I’ll try checking to see if i can still access the songs in it through a USB connection once I get my cable back from my brother.

Edit 2: After connecting it through the USB, it started charging up. So far the only components damaged are the back lighting and the click wheel’s sensitivity. The back lighting’s auto shut off feature is not working properly because it thinks the click wheel is picking up a signal even when there’s nothing touching it. This is not too bad and I can live with it.
